WELLINGTON DAIRY FARMERS ASSOCIATION.

Not only are the dairy farmers of the Wellington district improving their herds and methods of farming on more up-to-date lines, but they are going farther, and on Wednesday last the registration and incorporation of the Wellington Dairy Farmers’ Co-operative Association was completed. In future the dairy farmers sucplying milk to the city of Wellington will endeavour, by means ot this Association, to remedy some of the many unsatisfactory methods that exist in connection with this important branch of the daiying business. At a meeting of the Directors of this newlyformed Association, held at Otaki, on Wednesday, many matters affecting the Association were dealt with. Some of the main objects of the Association are :--A standard pried, regulation of supply, better means of transit, security of contract, and anything that will tend to improve the quality of milk sent to the city for human consumption. As showing the formers re-

cognise that there was a great need for such an Association, considerably over one hundred farmers supplying milk to Wellington hape become members, and there are said to be very lew farmers supprying milk to the city who have not joined the Association. The gehtlemen at present acting as directors are all practical dairy farme, who have been engaged in dairy-farming for many years, and they are sparing time or trouble to have the Association in active operation by the ist of September,

The Association has been fortunate in securing the services of Mr H. A- Ward (late Government Stock and Dairy Inspector) as its organiser, secretary, and manager. Mr Ward is so well and favourably known by the farmers, that such an appointment will inspire their confidence as to the success of the Association.

Mr G. H. Harper has been appointed solicitor, and the Bank of New Zealand bankers, to the Association.
