BOY STEALS FOR HIS MOTHER.
George Bazin, aged fourteen, a pawnbroker’s assistant, of Lennox road, Walthamstow, was recently charged with stealing a marked florin and sixpence from his employer, Albert Pocock. He was further charged with stealing a quantity of jewellery, cutlery, boots and clothing, worth about £ls, from Mr Pocock.
His parents, Mary Aun Bazin, 38, and Louie Victor Bazin, 36, were charged with feloniously receiving the property. Detective-Sergeant Wright said the boy admitted the theft of the marked money and made a long statement, in which he gave a catalogue of other owned articles which he had stolen. He also stated that he took everything home, and his father and mother generally saw him take the things from under his clothing. They knew where he got them from. “ I used to steal the things,” he added, ” because my mother was hard up and nearly starving. My father has done no work for a year or so. He goes out and gets drunk and knocks my mother about when i.e comes home. Only mother has panned all these goods. My lather bus had some of the money. It mother does not give it to him he knocks her down and takes it from her to get drink and tobacco.” Botli parents, said witness, had admitted their knowledge of the thefts, and the woman said she had pawned the goods. The prisoners were remanded, the woman being allowed bail.
