HUMANE SOCIETY’S AWARDS

The Royal Humane Society of New Zealand has made the following awards : Richard J. Ferris rescuing J. Nisbett from drowning at Auckland on April rytb, certificate. Win. H. Douglas, attempting to rescue Gordon Brown from drowning, at Gisborne, on April nth, bronze medal.
Dorothy Irwin, rescuing Margaret Peake from drowning at Timaru on March 4th, 1911, letter of commendation.
Dr. Johnson and D. Dillner, rescuing Mrs Corbett from drowning at Napier on November 3rd, 1911, certificates. Tawhai Kata, rescuing Eric Jones from drowning at Napier on January 16th certificate. Walter H. Gordon, rescuing Mrs Brown from death on the railway at Hastings on May 22nd, silver medal.
Harete Herauge and Mary Hororiri, rescuing Alice B. Hallet from drowning at Mercer on February nth, certificates. Mary Anne Coyle, rescuing P'lorence M. Underwood from being burned at the Union Collieries on October 1, 19x1, silver medal.
Ot thirty-seven applications received, thirty-two were considered worthy of recognition. The report regretted that the assistance from the public was not moie liberal. *
