IMPROVED LOCAL RAILWAY SERVICE.
The necessity lor a more regular railway service between
Foxton and Palmerston N. has been mentioned in these columns on several occasions, and the public will be pleased to know that as Tom July ist next there will be a twice daily service to Palmerston instead of on four days as at present. The increasing goods traffic on this section has not only demanded the running of special trains, but has caused long and tiresome waits at side stations between the two points 'served. With the twice daily service in vogue trains, and particularly the Palmerston-Fox-ton down train, should run up to schedule time. Iu fact, there is no reason why it should not be speeded up. The twice daily service should meet Foxlou’s ueeds for some time to come. The time-table, however, has not been altered, which will necessitate a rather long wait for Foxton passengers at Palmerston who desire to travel north or south. This matter should be carelully gone into by the Borough Council and, if possible, improved. The extra service will be appreciated by the travelling public.
