HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

pied _iair. Correspondence was read and dealt with. The catalogues lor the Bulb, Spring and Autumn Show were carefully revised and adopted. Mr Grelg donated a special prize of a guinea for the best child’s garden plot, home garden. Mr gjackson also gave a prize of 10,s in the same class. It was decided to split the prizes up as lollows : First prize of los 6d each to boy and girl, and second of 5s each ; plot to be 160 sq. feet. The age limit to be 14 years and under. Special prizes were also given by Mr and Mrs Witchell for flower sections. The donors were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mr Speirs consented to canvass for special prizes. The dates of the various shows were fixed as under : Bulb Show (to be held in the Masonic Hall) September 4th; Spring Show (Town Hall) November 20th and 21st; Autumn Show (Town Hall) March 7th. It was decided that the last named show be a one day show. Mrs Greig staled that she would donate a trophy for most points in flower and vegetable classes combined ; to be won three years in succession, the winner’s name to be inscribed each year, the committee to draw up conditions. A good deal of other routine business was transacted.
