DRINK AND TERRITORIAL CAMPS.
Wellington, June 13. Major-General Godley has reported to the Minister of Defence (Hon. A. Myers) on the enquiry recently held into the allegations made by the Christchurch Prohibition League of drunkenness and irregularities in connection with the territorial camp in Canterbury district. He considers the charges have been exaggerated. “At the same time, I would like to make it clear that 1 am in entire sympathy with the efforts of the Prohibition League to ensure that camps should be free ot any irregularities and that parents may have confidence that their sons will not be subjected to temptation. It is my intention in future to make every effort to have camps established out of reach of licensed premises.”
