CHILDREN’S BALL.

The fourth annual children’s plain and fancy dress ball, held under the auspices of All Saints' Ladies’ Guild, eventuated in the Coronation Town Hall last night, and although the weather was anything hut suitable lor the function, it did not appear to make any appreciable difference in the attendance. The proceedings were a little late in commencing, and were led off with the Grand March, directed by Mr C, H. Collins, in which nearly ninety couples took part. A good number of adults were present, many of whom lent assistance in piloting the little ones through the various dances. A good variety of fancy dresses were worn, and the spectacle presented during the dances by the intermingling of the bright coloured dresses was attractive and picturesque. The following is a list of those wearing fancy attire :

“lan Earl of Buccleuch,” Edward Pratt “Boy Scout,” Georgia' Woods “Footballer,” Tommy Page “Rough Rider,” Willie King “Jockey,” Willie Baker “Jester,” Arthur Baker “Man-o’-Warsman,” Stanley Collins “Sailor Boy,” Leu Hams “Soldier,” Stanley Anderson “Soldier,” Clarence Walls “Maori Chiet,” Hugh Walls “Negro,” Jack Barberg“CrossingJ Sweeper,” Willie Easton “Clown,” Henry Robinson “Cadet,” Frank Proctor “Parcel.” A committee of three ladles— Mesdames Jenks senr., Hudson senr., and A. Smith—was appointed to award prizes donated oy Mesdames Maudl, A. S. Easton, Frankland and Austin for the two best faucy costumes worn by boys and girls. Elsie King (Bell tea advertisement) and little Bertha Gower (moonlight night) received tue girls’ prizes, and Clarence Walls (Maori chief) and Frank Proctor (brown paper parcel) the boys’. A tasty supper was supplied by members of the Guild and their friends, which was done full justice to.

The aggregate attendance of children and adults was about four hundred. The Ladies’ Guild anticipate that the bail will produce the sum ot about after all expenses have been met. The music was supplied by Misses Jenks, H. Cook, F, Edwards, and A. Collins. The duties of M’s.C. were carried out by Messrs C. H. Collins, Hollington and S. R. Collins, Tne Guild wish to thank all those who in any way assisted to make the function such a success, and especially Messrs A. S. Easton autt W. S. Stewart.
