HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of members of the Foxton Horticultural Society was held in the Council Chamber last night. There was a good attendance of members, including a number of ladies, and the President, Mr A. Speirs, occupied tjie chair. The annual balance-sheet disclosed that the Society had a credit balance of £3l 14s 6d. The receipts tor me year, including the balance brought- forward, £42 2s rod, totalled £i6S 9s fid, expeuditme £136 16s 2d.

The statement of assets and liabilities showed that the Society’s assets totalled 9s gd, that the liabilities were nil. The balance-sheet was favourably commented upon and adopted. The proposed amendment to the rules and regulations governing the Society were discussed at some length, and hnally adopted. The loilowing officers were elected for the ensuing year : Patron, Mr A. S. Easton ; president, Mr A. Speirs; vice-presidents, Drs. Maudl and Adams, Messrs G. 11. Stile., P. Heunessy, A. J. Gibbs, H. Greig, B. G. Gower. W. Barber, P. Neylon, John Robinson, C. K. Robinson. W. Ross, G. Rough, VV. S. Stewart, and 11. Witchell; committee, Messrs Kempstet, Woods, Boyes, J. Newth, Galland, Jackson, Hornblow, Bullard, Henderson, and Walsh; Mesdames Nye, Woods, Greig, Adams, Galland and Boyes ; Misses Neylon, Speirs, Signal, and Symons ; auditor Mr A. Fraser; secretary, Mr H. C. Patterson ; treasurer, Miss Ross. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Fraser for his services as auditor.

The secretary was granted the usual or £io.

It was decided to hold three shows —Spring, Autumn and Bulb —during the ensuing year.
