FAIAL ACCIDENT.

Auckland, May 21

A fatal accident occurred in Beach road to-night, when Henry Alexander, a retired sea captain, aged 74, was knocked down by a tram-car and killed. Some little time ago Alexander fell off a tram car, receiving such injuries as necessitated his detention in the hospital. This was his first time out. He was very short-sighted especially at dusk, and as he was crossing the road he failed to notice an approaching car.
