THE FOXTON ENCAMPMENT.
In connection with the encampment to be held on the racecourse from May 22nd to May 30th, and camp standing orders have been issued.
Squadrons are detailed for duty as follows :
Wednesday, May 22nd, D Squadron. Thursday, May 23rd, A Squadron.
Friday, May 24th, B. Squadron. Saturday, May 25th, C. Squadron.
Sunday, May 26th, D. Squadron.
Monday, May 27th, A. Squadron.
Tuesday, May 28th, B. Squadron.
Wednesday, May 29th, C. Squadron. Thursday, May 30th, D, Squadron.
A Regimental Guard of one sergeant, one corporal and nine men will be detailed daily by the squadron on duty. This guard will parade at 6.13 p.m. at the alarm post, with arms and great coats.
One sentry will be posted, the remaining six men will be detailed as camp police. They will patrol the camp during the day while the troops are absent from the lines and will receive special instructions from the captain of the day as to their duties at night, Squadron commanders are responsible at all times for the care and safety of their horses. Each squadron officer commander will detail one N.C.O. and six men as a picket for his own horses. These pickets must parade on their own lines at 6.30 p.m,, and be inspected by their commanding officer. They should wear fatigue dress and great coats, and must sleep in the same tent. They will attend all parades. Alarms. —On the alarm being sounded, all troops except the No. 3’s will fall in with arms, on the regimental alarm post (the parade ground). The No. 3’s will stand to the horses of their four. Troops will stand fast on the alarm post until the “dismiss” is sounded. Troops will parade daily at 9.15 a.m. and 1.45 p.m. in mass on the regimental parade ground. Discipline.—Orderly room will be held daily at 1.15 p.m. All reports must be handed in at that time. Officers commanding squadrons who have any applications or prisoners, will see that all witnesses are present at the above hour.
Medical. —Men reporting sick will be paraded by the orderly corporal o£ each squadron, and marched to the M.O. at 7.30 a.m. daily. The M.O. will furnish reports to the O.C. squadrons, and which they will send on to the adjutant. Veterinary.—The veterinary officer will daily make an inspection of the horses, in addition to that made by the O.C. squadrons, who are responsible at all times lor their horses. The Veterinary officer should be at once iulormed should any horse be injured or go off his feed. No horses may be removed from the lines for any purpose, other than that laid down in the regimental orders or by order of the veterinary officer. Fire. —Men are warned against carelessness with matches in their tents, and should see that a plug is securely inserted in the candle stick bayonet. This plug is to prevent the candle from slipping through and setting fire to the straw.
Lfiquor.—No alcoholic liquor of any kind is allowed in camp. Any person found bringing any in is liable to a fine of £2O (Section 59, Fart vii., Defence Act, 1909),
