FOOTBALL.

A special meeting to revise the rules and by-laws of the Horowhenua Rugby Union was held at Mauakau on Thursday evening, wheu after adopting the rules as revised, it was decided to call for tenders for printing same.

At the meeting of the Management Committee of the Horowhenua Rugby Umou on Thursday evening, it was decided to start the championship matches next Saturday, iMay 4th. The fixtures will be drawn up on Monday and will be published in Tuesday’s issue.

Messrs Coley and Bock have given two silver medals to the local school, one each for the best back and the best torward during the coming season. Mr Jackson, the headmaster, will allot same.

lu view of the championship matches commencing next Saturday local followers of the game should commence training immediately. The senior team put up a really good fight last year and theie is no reason why the championship shield should not be brought to Foxton this year it the players will only get mto lonu and practice. _____________
