CONSTABLE BRUTALLY ASSAULTED.
Auckland, April 9
Henry John Wells, Thomas Lett, and Robert Richardson were charged at the Police Court to-day with having assaulted Constable Mills, in Grey Street, at one o’clock this morning. It was stated that the constable was kicked over the heart, ana much knocked about. He is in the hospital at present, too ill to appear. The full extent of his injuries has not yet been ascertained. The accused were remanded till April 17th.
