ENTERTAINMENTS.

TOWN HALL BENEFIT

The Taylor • Carrington Company will re-visit Foxtou next Tuesday, and give a special performance for the benefit of the Town Hall Fund, as a mark of their appreciation oi the advantages a company such as theirs derives from having such a commodious and up-to-date theatre in which to present their performances. A very strong bill will be presented, and Mr Charlie Taylor will be seen in one of those Irish characters in which he shows to much advantage. The piece selected is entitled, “A Lucky Irishman,” and Miss Carrington and the company in support appear in characters to which they are well suited and show to very great advantage. The curtain-raiser is a very clever piece entitled, ‘‘A Husband's Night Out,” and is quite new to New Zealand, for the Taylor - Carrington management first presented it in Auckland only a few months ago. The critic of the Auckland Star says: “Mr Charlie Taylor is undoubtedly the drollest comedian that we’ve had in Auckland for some years. Willie Edouin at his best was not more comic, and there are subleties in Mr Taylor’s acting that suggest the gilt edge humour of J. L. Toole.”
