CATHOLIC SOCIAL.
The first of the series of socials under the auspices of the local Catholic Church, was held in the Coronation Hall last night, and was a pronounced success from every point of view. The promoters of the function had left no stone unturned to have all arrangements complete and the success that crowned their efforts was thoroughly deserved. The floor received special attention and during the afternoon a pony was used for dragging sacks around the hall in order to get it in the best possible order. The ladies, on whom a very large proportion of the work devolved, were quite equal to their task and deserve special mention. The attendance was very good and a most enjoyable time was spent. Messrs M. Perreau and S. Hudson carried out the duties of M.’sC. The music was supplied by Miss Tansley, on account of the unavoidable absence of Coulan’s Band. The thanks of the committee are due to Miss Tansley for her kindness in filling the breach at short notice.
During the evening songs were contributed by Mrs Hall and Mr Prosser.
The refreshments were provided by the ladies of the parish. The secretarial duties were carried out by Mr P. Henuessy, who had the assistance of an energetic and hardworking committee. The next social will be held on May 24th,
