ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

On Thursday evening a small farmer named James Warren Williams, an elderly man, attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat and severing an artery in the leg. Mr C. Matsen who happened to be passing the cemetery noticed the unfortunate man inside the grounds, and lost no time in preventing him from accomplishing the deed. Matsen communicated with the police and Williams was conveyed to the Manawatu Hotel for medical treatment. Upon examination by Dr. Adams it was found thai -.v /unds were not of a serious nature.

It appears that Williams has been worried of late, and this brought on insomnia. He stated that he had only slept for one hour during the past fortnight. With a little careful nursing he will be alright in the course ot a few days.
