BOWLING.
Yesterday two rinks from the local club visited Otaki in quest of the Kiuuiburgh Feathers and Tom Ferns, which were held by Otaki. Both games were very interesting and the results were iu doubt lo practically the last heads. The Ferns team succeeded in wrestling the trophies from the holders, but the challengers lor the Featheis suffered defeat by 5 points. The visitors had a most enjoyable day and were royally treated by the home club. The green was very hard, due to the want of rain. At the conclusion of the games cheers were given for the teams and also for the ladies who p;ovided afternoon tea. The visit ji s were also entertained at tea prior to leaving Otaki. The rinks and scores were as under : LEATHERS. FOXTON OTAKI Harvey Booth Woods Thompson Rimmer Howell Witchell (s.) 17 Ferguson (s.) 22 ferns. Barber Carpenter Speirs Gooding Walker Bates Munro(s)23 Satherley (s) 21 East week two games for the Stunell trophy were got off, Rimmer (scr.) 21, beating Whibley (x) 20, after a very interesting game. The scores were level on the 21st head and an additional head had to be played to decide the game. Green (4), 26 beat Petrie (1) 20.
The rink that won the Toms Ferns at Otaki yesterday have already received a challenge, and the game will be played next Wednesday. The challenging team is the one that visited Otaki yesterday in quest of the Kinniburgh Feathers,
