FEBRUARY GRADING RE-
TURNS
The Director of the Department of Commerce forwards a return showing the quantities of hemp and tow graded at the ports of the Dominion during the month of February, 1912, The total number of bales of hemp graded was 9291, as compared with 8897 for the corresponding month of last year, an increase of 394 bales. ’For the twelve months, end 29th February, 1912, the number of bales graded was 85,512, as compared with 125,655 for the previous twelve months, the decrease being 40,143 bales. Daring the month 2737 bales of tow were dealt with, as compared with 3476 for the corresponding month of last year, a decrease of 739 bales. The detailed figures are as follows : Hemp.—Auckland 734, Napier 107, Foxton 4224, Wellington 3661, Picton 266, Dunedin 92, Bluff 308. Total, 9291. Tow. —Auckland 270, Napier 55, Foxton 1038, Wellington 1049, Picton 55, Lyttelton 78, Waikuku 51, Dunedin 14, Bluff 108. Total, 2737.
