SYNDICALISM.

Syndicalism has received _ a check and we are glad to think that the workers are beginning to see matters iu quite a new light, says the Petone Chronicle. There may be some sort of weird attraction about a universal strike ; but we just want to ask our Labour friends who may believe in its efficacy to answer us a question : Given the success of a paralysing strike of national, aye, of international demensions ; what then ? When the “wheels of industry have ceased to revolve”—we believe that is a good old stock phrase of the syndicalist what then ? When nothing is being produced, nothing is being transported, no supplies are available, no food, no fuel, no light ; what then? Who will set the wheels turning again ? Where will the suppliers of raw products and the finished article come from ? When these questions have been answered, there are some others that need an answer ; but we believe those will furnish sufficient food for consideration tor some little time to come. When are Labour Syndicalist friends are prepared to put a world-wide scheme in the place of that which exists —bad as it may be—there may be some small excuse for beginning to discuss the proposition of internationally, or any other method of, ceasing work.
