MOUTOA NOTES.
The Moutoa School annual picnic was held yesterday on the ground of Dr. Walls. The morning broke with rather unsettled weather, but later it cleared away. Close on 100 children aud quite a large number of adults came together aud had a very enjoyable day. The races were iu the hands of the headmaster, Mr Gallaud, assisted by the chairman and members of the committee, livery child received a prize in the shape of a toy or some useful article. At the close of the day the Chairman presented about 70 books to the scholars, and then called for cheers for Mr Doyle tor the use of the grounds and hall, the ladies tor the bountiful supply of refreshments, Mr Gallaud for choosing books and toys, Mr Wm. Park for special prizes donated, and the boys who collected the subscriptions amounting to over £g, A cheer was also given for the chairman, and the gathering broke up somewhat early, for the dairymen had to return home to their duties. In the evening a dance was held in Dr Wall’s hall.
