MEAT WORKERS’ STRIKE.
STILL NO SETTLE.VIKNT
Through the instrumentality of Mr P. Hally (Conciliation Commissioner) representatives of the meat workers who struck at Petone and Ngahauranga last Friday week met representatives of the employers in conference again yesterday, the negotiations being conducted in the Employers’ Association's rooms. Alter about six hours’ deliberation another deadlock was reached, and although it has been arranged to continue the conference at 7 o’clock this evening a settlement seems to be as far off as ever. The strike has not spread to the waterside workers, as yesterday about 5000 carcases from the Meat Export Company’s works were loaded into the Tainui, no trouble being experienced. . The chairman of the conference informed the press representatives when the meeting adjourned that so far progress had been made, and the proceedings stood adjourned until 7 P* m - to-day.
