RIFLE CLUB.

The annual general meeting of the Foxton section of the Himatangi Rifle Club was held in the Town Hall supper-room on Tuesday evening, when Mr John Ross presided over a good attendance of members.

The annual report and balancesheet was read and adopted, disclosing that the Club would start the season with a debit balance, but the assets exceeded the liabilities.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year : Captain, Mr G. H. Stiles ; vicecaptain, Mr John Ross ; secretary and treasurer, Dr Adams ; committee, Messrs J. Ross, C, Rand, J. Gillespie, and K. Furrie.

Voles of thanks were accorded Messrs Perreau, Eumsden, Stiles, Golder, Parkes, and Conlan for trophies donated during the past year.

Messrs J. Gillespie and K. Furrie were appointed to canvass for trophies for the ensuing year. Dr Adams signified his intention of presenting a trophy for competition, 10 shots each at 200 and 300 yards, with a six-inch bullseye, the best six out of eight shoots to count. The competition is a handicap one, and will commence on Wednesday next. The secretary intimated that there were four second-hand rifles that could be obtained if desired by members. The rifles were fitted with aperture sights, and were in good order. The meeting terminated after passing the usual vote of thanks to the chair.
