AN AUCKLAND SENSATION.
Auckland, Feb. 12
The naked body ot a baby girl was found floating in the harbour yesterday morning. This morning an inquest was held. From the medical evidence as submitted to the jury by Dr Girdler, it appears that the child is a tully developed lemaie, and was not less than three weeks old at the time ot death. The doctor stated that the body had been in the water at least a week. The heart, lungs and other internal organs were all normal. An examination ol the skull revealed a large bruise at the back ot the head, a bruise that must have been caused during life, ana could have been caused by a blow. It was certainly caused by violence of some kind. The doctor thought the child was dead when thrown into the water.
In view o£ further inquiry in another court, the jury unanimously returned a verdict ot murder against some person or persons unknown.
