ALL SAINTS’ SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC.

The annual picnic of this school was held yesterday on the grounds of Mr W. Barber’s beautiful residence at Motuiti, and proved a most enjoyable outing to all concerned. The scholars, to the number of about 130, the teachers, and a fair number of parents and other “ grown-ups ” were taken out to the holiday scene in conveyances kindly supplied by Messrs Podmore, Coley, Collins, Cook and W. Nye. The weather was simply perfect, the grounds very suitable and convenient for games and sports, everybody was in good humour, and consequently “ all went as merry as a marriage bell.” The various races were run off under the management of the S.S. Superintendent, Mr W. S. Stewart, assisted by Masters Barber and Rodie, without hitch or dispute of any kind, and other games were supervised by the vicar, Mr Woodward, MrNicholls, and other willing helpers. Not the least important items in a a picnic outing are “ the creature comforts,” which were present in great abundance, presided over and dispensed by the Misses Creswell assisted by the lady teachers and others. Afternoon tea was supplied belore leaving, and, like everything else on this bright and happy day, which will long live in the memory of the children and all others present, was thoroughly enjoyed. At the close voles of thanks were briefly conveyed by the superintendent to Mr and Mrs Barber, the teachers, the supervisors of the various sports, etc., and those who supplied the conveyances, and heany cheers for all and sundry were called for by the superintendent, and given with ringing emphasis.
