MARTON MEETING. The Marton Jockey Club held their summer meeting on Monday and Tuesday, and' on the first day were favoured with exceptionally good' weather, but on Tuesday it was showery. This is the first occasion on which races have been held jn l Marton on New -Year's Day, in former years the Rangitilioi Club, which has been wiped but by ibe Racing Commis-

siou, held their cup meeting at this time of the year. The attendances on both days at Marton were very good, particularly on the first day. All arrangements lor the meeting were very complete, and the secretary, Mr Arthur Way, is to be congratulated for the manner in which be

irried out bis many duties. The duties of starter were carried out by Mr A. Morse, who made his first appearance iu charge o( the .rrier.
