ASSISTED IMMIGRANTS.

Wellington, Dec. 28

The Arawa berthed in Wellington to-day from Loudon, “a full ship” so far as passengers are concerned, no fewer than 400 They were distributed as follow: 27 in the first class, 75 in tij&secoud, and 344 in the third class. Passengers booked to Wellington totalled 14S. The immigrants were classed high by Mr Dauby, Government immigration officer, who went out to the steamer as usual for the purpose ol advising the passengers regarding their prospects, tie is of opinion that not one of them will have any difficulty in obtaining employment immediately. The assisted immigrants comprised 43 adults and xi children, and the following were the occupations; Domestics 19, cook x, farm hands 3, farmers 2, farm labourers 10, while four wives came out to rejoin their husbands. The domestics came under the charge of lidith Palmer, of Wellington, and will be at once placed in suitable situations throughout New Zealand. The " declared capital of the assisted emigrants ranged from down to the minimum of £ 2 .
