BOXING.

McVEA UKATS LANGFORD

Svdnkv, Dec. 26

There was an immense crowd at the Stadium, Rushcutters’ Bay, to witness the boxing match between Sam McVea and Sam Langford this morning. In a twenty-round fight McVea beat Langford on points. McVea was easily the better ol the two in the first ten rounds, scoring apparently as he liked with left hooks to the face. Langford replied with straight lefts to the jaw and right swings to the body. The latter, however, were generally blocked.

In the eleventh round McVea seemed to lire. Fiom then to the seventeenth Langford took the lead, fighting savagely. McVea’s belter boxing stood to him, however. The last two rounds again brought his heavy left into play. Both were going strongly at the finish, though Langford’s right eye was completely closed. The verdict was unpopular with a large section of the crowd.
