Lonjjwn, December 21. The Countess Demaniu, giving evidence in the blackmail case, said that Dan. O'Conner, the Australian, warned her that the two defendants would be likely to blackmail her, but she did not take the warning seriously. On the same day a representative of the defendants told her that a warrant was out for O'Connor’s arrest. She denied that she gave a bill tor Dobbie’s claim for libel and damages against O’Conner. She wauled to secure the letters held by the blackmailers iu order to relieve O’Connor but O’Connor wrote nothing that concerned her. The accused were committed lor trial.
