MOTOR LAUNCH SERVICE.
BKTWLKN FOX TUN & Till', HLADS. Yesterday afternoon our representative had the pleasure oi a short cruise iu the new launch “Tauiora,” which Mr P. K. Dauiell has had specially built lor the conveyance ol passengers on the Mauavvalu River. Mr Dauiell intends to run to and from the Manavvatu Heads to meet all trains and the service will commence on Wednesday next. The launch, which is undoubtedly the finest on the local river, was specially built to the order of Mr Dauiell by Charles Bailey, ol Auckland. It is luted with a 12 h.p. Zealandia engine, which is recognised as one of the most reliable on the market, and its speed is between y and to miles per hour. Tire launeu has sealing capacity for 32, for which number it is licensee. It is admirably fitted tip in every respect and compares favourably with the best passenger carrying launches in the Bounds and other pleasure resorts. The comloit of passengers has been considered, the seats being nicely cushioned and the portion set aside for the accommodation of passengers is covered with an awning deck, thus protecting those on board from the sun’s rays and from rain. The launch has been so constructed as to leave plenty ol free-board, thus obviating the annoyance of water splashing over the sides. Lifebelts and buoys are provided, also a chemical lire engine, and all the littiugs are thoroughly up-to-date.
