LABOUR AT VARIANCE. Wkuunctox, Dec. iy. At a meeting of the National Council of the New Zealand Labour Party to-night, the following resolution was passed : That the National Council of the New Zealand Labour Parly views with deep regret the action of Auckland members of the party in congratulating the reactionary party of the Dominion on their success at the recent poll, and takes this first opportunity of declaring that whatever opinions may have been expressed by the members concerned, they were purely their own private views on the matter, and in no way represented the attitude of the New Zealand Labour Party either Liberals or Conservative parties. This Executive lurther more repudiates the action of any branch of the party in officially .supporting the candidature of any person other than a pledged Labour man, or in election contests where no Labour man is standing, taking any official part therein.

Owing to the delay in receiving the final election returns, Sir Joseph Ward will not be in a position to make a statement as to the course he intends to lake until Friday. MAORI ELECTIONS. Mr Taare Parata has been returned for the southern district, Dr. Pomare for the western district, and Te Rangihiroa (Dr. Buck) for the northern district. The Hon. Mr Ngata was elected unopposed for the eastern district. STATE OF PARTIES, As the result of the Maori elections the state of parties in the new House is now as follows ;-vGovernmeut 33 Opposition 39 Labour 4 Indcpendmt 4
