London, Dec. 16. A man named Jonas Marshall committed suicide by taking carbolic acid, after fatally shooting two sisters named Jane and Isabel Stevenson at Stockton-on-Tees while returning from a dance. Bkrun, Dec. 16. Although the newspapers are disposed to let bygones be bygones, and to discuss improvements in foreign relations, there are many protests against the Government’s concealment of facts. The “ Vossische Zeitung ” states that it is extremely painful to learn from a F'rench Minister what the German Government ought to have revealed, notably the negotiations respecting the proposed privilege zone in Morocco and France’s rejection of the demand for coercion of Congo from the sea to Sauga. “The Times’” Berlin correspondent censures the persistence of the manipulation of German opinion against F'rance, and still more against Britain by the official dissemination of a version ol recent events now proved to be absolutely untrue. He adds that as far as is known the system of press inspiration will continue iu the future as hitherto. Nkw York, Dec. 15. The second trial of Dr Hyde for the murder ol Colonel Thomas Swope by poisoning ended in a mistrial. A juror escaped, aud wheu captured was found to be insane. The jury were then discharged. The case has excited tremendous interest, Hyde being the medical attendant of Colonel Swope. Nkw York;, Dec. 16. A Federal investigation into recent dynamite outrages has revealed the fact that five explosions in Kansas City were directed against houses employing nonunion labour. Two were confessedly the work of Ortie McManigal. The Ironworkers’ Union is not opposing the investigation.
