POLITICAL.

Mr C, A- \V. Monckton, reform candidate, spoke at Waihonga last Wednesday night. The candidate spoke at some length and received a very attentive hearing. Mr Ferguson proposed a vote of thanks and confidence, and on behall of the meeting wished Mr Monckton success at the polling booth. The proposition was carried with acclamation.

Mr C. A. W. Monckton, reform candidate, spoke iu the schoolhouse, Koputaroa, on Friday night. His address was very much on the same lines as the Foxton speech. Between seventy and eighty electors were present and with one exception were evidently in sympathy with the candidate’s views. Letters of regret for nonattendance were received from several farmers iu the vicinity, including Mr J. Davies, all wishing Mr Monckton success on election day. Votes of thanks and confidence to the speaker, and thanks to the chair brought a very successful meeting to a close.

Mr Byron Brown will address the electors in the Coronation Hall to-night, Apart from the political address, the candidate, assisted by his talented daughter, will deliver a Shakespearian recital and several humorous recitations. We may mention that both Mr Brown and bis daughter are elocutionists of merit and the special attraction should draw a full house.

Mr Byron Brown addressed about 50 people at Oroua Bridge last night. He was accorded a splendid hearing and at the conclusion a vote of thanks and con - fidence was carried unanimously.
