CRICKET.

The Shield match, Awahou v. Foxton, played on the Park pitch on Saturday, resulted iu a win lor the former by 11 runs on the first innings. The game was timed to commence at 2 p.m., but it was fully an hour later before a commencement was made. Awahou batted first, and were all disposed of lor the ridiculously small total ol 37, ot which number Redgrave notched 16 and Bowe 14. With a score of only 37 to beat, the Foxton players were sanguine of victory, but as batsmen they failed absolutely, and their score when the last wicket fell was only 26. Awahou commenced their second innings, and the first two batsmen

“ collared ” the bowling and put on 151 before a separation was effected. At the call of time, the score stood at 164 for one wicket. Unlortuuately the bowling analysis iu connection with Awahou's first iuniugs was not kept, and cannot be given. A feature ol the game was the number of batsmen run out, Awahou losing three wickets in this way and F'oxtou five.

The lollowiug are the scores : Awahou xst Innings.
