WAIHI’S MAYOR AND NOLICENSE.

Waihi, November 3

A deputation of business men and others waited on the Borough Council with reference to a statement made by the Mayor recently that Waihi had not benefited morally or materially under NoIficense. Speakers challenged the Mayor’s statement, and urged the Council to pass a resolution contradictiug it. V-

The Mayor held to his declaration.

The following resolution was passed ;—“ That the opinion of the Mayor regarding Waihi under No-Ificeuse does not represent the opinion of the council, and that the council considers that NoTiceuse in Waihi has not had an injurious effect financially, morally or socially on the well-being of the town.”
