FURIOUS RIDING.
At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Robert Coley and David Maclntyre were charged by the police with furious riding on the Beach, in front of the cottages. Both defendants were represented by Mr R. Moore, who stated they had instructed him to plead guilty on their behalf, and that they were not aware that such riding was an
offence. Constable Woods said the defendants were galloping along the beach in trout of the cottages. This was a very dangerous practice, as there were always a number of people, including children, on the beach. He had issued a warning about this practice the previous season. The Magistrate said that as this was the hrst case of its kind he would only inflict fines of 10s each with costs 7s.
