PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

A congregational meeting of the local Presbyterian Church was held on Thursday evening, to ascertain the feeling of members in respect to the “call” sent to the Rev Mr Aitken from the Methven Church. There was a good attendance and the Rev A. Doull, of St. Andrew’s, Palmerston N., presided. After the procedure had been explained a resolution was proposed and finally carried “That this congregation place no obstacle in the way of Mr Aitken accepting the call.” At the same time the meeting expressed the unanimous opinion that they were perfectly satisfied with Mr Aitken’s ministration. Messrs Hornblow, Davy and Yates were appointed delegates to convey the feeling of the congregation to a meeting of Presbytery to be held at Palmerston on Tuesday next. Mr Aitken has signified his intention of expressing his views on the subject to his congregation to-morrow.
