THE LATE CARDINAL MORAN.
Sydney, August 20. It is estimated that nearly a quarter of a million people viewed Cardinal Moran’s funeral procession. The hearse containing the remains, on leaving St. Mary’s Cathedral, proceeded via Liverpool, Elizabeth and College streets and thence returned to the Cathedral, followed by Church dignitaries, clergy, members of Catholic Societies and guilds of regalia, including representatives of the New Zealand Hibernian Society, children of Catholic schools, the Irish Rifles regiment, representatives ot the Governor-General, and the Governor, the Hon. W. M. Hughes, representing the Commonwealth Ministry, several, members of the State Ministry, official heads, and many public men were present at obsequies in token of respect tor the departed Cardinal. An immense crowd thronged the Cathedral. Archbishop Kelly performed the last rites as the coffin was placed in the vault. , tV The service was simple but most solemn and impressive. The choir rendered subdued dirges, combined with the tolling of the Cathedral bells.
