SUPREME COURT.
PALMERSTON SITTINGS. In his charge to the grand jury at Palmerston, yesterday, the Chief Justice said he could congratulate them ou the fact that the charges vveic not numerous. There were ically six charges against nine persons. There were only two serious cases, and the most serious was that of attempted murder of a man at Foxton, live years ago. The police had only discovered the whereabouts ol the accused during the past tew days, when he was arrested on another charge and his finger-prints showed that he was the man required lor the Foxton case. His Honour then traversed the evidence to be glveu iu the remaining cases filed True bills were returned against C. Murphy, J. McKenzie, aud F. K. J. Kinchaut, assault causing actual bodily harm.
