AUCKLAND FIRE FATALITY.

Auckland, August 17. At the Coroner’s inquest on Mrs Kelly, burned to death by fire in Upper Queen street, Herbert Collier, residing next door, stated he heard a man and a woman in heated argument in the yard of Kelly’s premises. When it concluded the woman ran inside and locked the door. He distinctly heard the woman say: “If you killed your father you won’t kill me.” This was repeated several times. Witness did not know who were speaking, only that they were a man and woman. He fell asleep at 5 o’clock and two hours later heard of the hre and the arrest of Andrew Kelly on a charge of drunkenness. Harry Thompson deposed as to finding Andrew Kelly in a dazed condition. When the fire was discovered Kelly told him nobody else was in the house. The jury returned an open verdict.
