THE STRIKE.
The strike i i Eondouaud Liverpool continues. In the latter place the strikers have come into conflict with the police and military. London, Aug. 14. Mr Winston Churchill, in the Commons, stated that the situation in London had improved, aud all sections of the dockers were returning. The tramway strike at Glasgow collapsed. A local merchant declares that Manchester is within three days of starvation. A serious bread famine is threatened in Liverpool aud Birkenhead. London, Aug. 15. At Liverpool three thousand strikers attacked a prison van convoyed by a hundred Hussars, who fired on the crowd and then used their sabres. One man was killed and twenty wounded. The Amalgamated Railway Servants have declared a general strike. There are signs of the Glasgow strike fizzling out. Eighty were arrested lor rioting.
