FOOTBALL.

The following team will represent Foxton in their match against Levin - Wanderers on Saturday : Gillespie Dunn Shamrock Furrie Rore Cook Royal W. Robinson Joe Martin Bowe Reihana Reid Haeana Beaton Emergencies: Backs, Davey, Withers; forwards, C. Peri, F. Robinson. Any of the above players unable to play are requested to notify the secretary at once. The senior championship in the Horowheuua Union has now reached a very interesting stage, as three teams—Levin Wanderers, Hui Mai and Foxton —are well in the running. All three teams have played the same number of matches, and Foxton is two points behind the other teams. Followers of Rugby in this district should yet witness some very close and interesting games between these teams. On Saturday next, on the racecourse, Foxton will play Levin-Wanderers. This should be a most interesting game, as both teams specialise in different departments Levin - Wanderers’ backs being recognised as the best set in the Union, whilst in forward play the wearers of the blue and white can hold their own with any other pack and still have something to spare. Foxton will no doubt endeavour to make the game a forward one, whilst Levin will try to open up play and get their backs going. In any case the game should be a very close one, and spectators will get value for their money. The kick-off will take place at 2.45 p.m. Price of admission, one shilling.

Rore Pitihira has been chosen as full-back to represent Horo-whenua-Manawatu against Taranaki on the 23rd inst. Shannon being unable to get a team on Saturday forfeited to llui Mai. By their win on Saturday Weraroa wins the junior championship. At Wellington, on Saturday, the North and South Island country teams met, and the result was a victory for the North Islanders by xS points to 6. At Wanganui, on Saturday, the Maori team beat Wanganui by eight points to nil. Winiata and Rogers scored tries, one of which was converted. Tlie Maoris will meet Wellington on Wednesday.
