VALEDICTORY.

A farewell social was tendered to Mr and Mrs W. Young at Mr Walls’ Hall, Moutoa, last night, by the residents. Mr G, Barber occupied the chair and referred to the esteem in which Mr and Mrs Young were held by the settlers, who regretted their departure from the district. At a suitable juncture, the Chairman called upon Mr Galland to make a presentation of a salad bowl to Mrs Young and a pair of silvermounted military hair brushes to Mr Young, on behalf of the creamery suppliers. Mr Young suitably replied and referred to the good feeling which bad always existed between himself as creamery manager, and the suppliers. Items were rendered during the evening by Mrs Hall, Misses Nimmo, McDonald, Messrs Marshall, Hensen, Saunders, Yates, Colder, Galland, and the Chairman. Accompaniments were played by Misses Russell and McDonald. Refreshments supplied by the ladies were handed round and much appreciated. A dance concluded the proceedings. Votes of thanks were heartily given to the Chairman and Mr and Mrs Doyle. Mr Young has been in charge of the Moutoa creamery for three years, and has been very popular with the suppliers. Mr and Mrs Young will leave Moutoa for Hastings next Monday. Unfortunately Mrs Young was too ill to be present at the social.
