A cablegram from the Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) has been received by Sir James Carroll, which makes the position clear regarding the reappointment ot Sir William Hall-Jones as High Commissioner ot .New Zealand in Condon. It reads as follows; “You can give absolute contradiction to the rumour regarding my taking position of High Commissioner for New Zealand, also suggestion regarding Sir Robert Stout and Dr, Findlay. There is no such intention. The position is that High Commissioner has appointment extended to end of August, and has not tendered resignation to me, and whole matter standing over for consideration by Cabinet until my return.”
