A TOTALISATOR TICKET.
‘ TO PAY FOR illS MISTAKE.”
CHRISTCHURCH, July 3.
At the .Magistrate’s Court to-day, Arnold Nicot claimed from Harry Turner £4 13s, value of a totalisator dividend, the result of a. 10. s ticket which (leleiulant had agreed to invest for plaintilf on the Jast race of the trottnie meeting at the Plnmpton Park on June 3.
Mr Hunter, for phiintilf, said that the latter had given defendant IDs to nne,st on Little Arthur on the bust race. The horse won, and paid a. dividend el £4 13s.
Mr Cassidy, for the defence, said that there was a big crush at tho totalisator, and, whilst defendant was getting two tickets, n man behind asked defendant to get a ticket lor linn. Defendant foolishly did so, and passed tho man one of tho three ticicets which he got. When defendant went to collect tho money, ho found that he had given away tho wrong ticket.
His Worship held that ho was quite satisfied that a legitimate mistake had been made by defendant,, but, of course, ho would have to pay for his mistake. Judgment would bo given for plaintiff for 10s—the price ot the ticket, with costs on that amount.
