The Manawatu Herald. Thursday, June 29, 1911. NOTES AND COMMENTS.
In our last issue there appeared an appeal in support of a worthy object—Dr Barnardo’s Homes. To-day we have the pleasure of announcing the anonymous donation, by a Foxton resident, of £5 to the funds. When money was required to secure the completion of the Town Hall, the citizens rose nobly to the occasion, and now, if they follow the lead that has ‘ been given them, another record may be established. “Charity begins at home ’’ is an old saying and a true, but there is no reason for supposing that it should stop there, and we may earn the reward of the merciful by extending a helping hand, in the time of o ur prosperity, to our brothers a cross the seas.
