Pahiatua, June 19. A fire to-day gutted a furniture factory in Main street, occupied by A. Pringle. The building was insured for in the Liverpool, Dondon and Globe, the stock and material for ,£IOO in the Sun, and the machinery for in the same office. There will be a considerable loss above the insurance. Napirr, June xB. The body of a man apparently about 70 years of age, was found floating in the harbour near Glasgow wharf at three o’clock this afternoon. The body has not yet been identified. Christchurch, June 19. A man named Harry Whitlow, living at Hapuka, Kaikoura, was found dead on Saturday. He had been out tending cows, and as he did not return a lad was sent to look for him and found him lying on the ground dead. He leaves a wife and five children.
