In connection with the Hui Mai —Eevin Wanderers match, the referee reported that he had occasion to warn J. Hopa, Gobble and Taylor, but that the offences committed were not of such a nature as to warrant drastic aM severe punishment. It was decided that in view of the referee’s letter no action be taken against the players.
Mr J. A. McNickle transmitted the following letter from the Native College, Otaki: —“ On behalf of our College Club, I want to approach the Management Committee of the Union with regard to fixtures for the College team. We are closing, as we do each year for three weeks (covering three Saturdays), after June 22. The match fixed for June 24, in the first round, is really during the holidays, but as the Union have it down we are allowing, or going to allow, the boys to remain here till Saturday, the 24th. But Saturdays July 1,8, and 15 the boys will be home—at different places between Oroua Bridge, and Porirua—and it is practically impossible for them to pay their fares to Otaki, Eevin, or any centre. Is it possible to allow byes to our team on the days they are away from here ? Or in some way to excuse their having to play on those days ? ” The secretary moved that byes be granted to the College team on the days applied for, and that the matches be played at the end of the season. Mr Kingi Tahiwi seconded the motion, which was adopted.
Mr Whibley brought up the question of an accident insurance scheme, and moved to the effect that the secretary be instructed to obtain information relative to an insurance scheme and to submit the same to a subsequent meeting of the committee. This was seconded by Mr Kingi Tahiwi, and carried. Arrangements in connection with the representative fixture, Rangitikei v. Horowhenua, to be played at Eevin on Coronation Day, were completed. Other minor matters were discussed, and the meeting terminated.
On Saturday the Foxton seniors will play Shannon, at Shannon, and the juniors will meet College at Eevin. The following is the senior team for Saturday : Haeana Dunn Rore Tuohy Royal Stevenson W. Robinson Joe Martin Cook Miller Reihaua Cantwell Reid Bowe.
