METHODIST CHURCH.

The quarterly meeting of the Foxton circuit was held at the parsonage last evening, when there was a very good attendance of officials. Rev T. Ccatsworth occupied the chair, and Mr G. H. Stiles was elected secretary. The reports showed the church to be in a very good position. The finances for the quarter came up well, and were sufficient to pay all demands, including minister’s travelling expenses from his last circuit, and a small credit balance was left in the hands of the treasurer. Five names were added to, and five removed from the church roll. It was decided to hold the church anniversary services in July. An evangelistic mission is to be held in the Foxton church during the winter months. Permission was given to the Rev T. Coatsworth to visit the Feilding circuit to hold a mission there. Himatangi is to have a Sunday evening service, at their own request, instead of the afternoon service as held at present. It was reported that a very successful young women’s Bible class had been commenced during the quarter, and was doing well. It it hoped that a young men’s class will be established shortly, to be conducted by the minister. 1 Mr G. H. Stiles, circuit steward, gave an account of the proceedings of the Methodist Union Committee which met at Wellington. A hearty and brotherly spirit prevailed, and concessions were made on both sides. A basis ot union was unanimously agreed to, and in due time will be forwarded to the quarterly meetings and the annual conferences for ratification. All the' officials were re-elected, and the next quarterly meeting was fixed for the first Wednesday in September. The Benediction brought the meeting to a close. Refreshments were then handed round, and the meeting dispersed.
