A meeting of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held on Thursday afternoon in the Methodist schoolroom, Mrs Stiles presiding. Mrs H. Mowlem, District President, of Palmerston North, also Mrs Whitehead, visited the Union and spoke on the scope of the work.

Several departments of work were then arranged for. Mrs Huntley was elected vice-president vice Mrs Mairs resigned, and the following officers were elected : White ribbon agent, Miss Bullard ; home meetings superintendent, Mrs Bullard ; secretary pro. tern., Miss Hopper. The initiatory service was held, when three new members were added to the ranks and had the white ribbon pinned on them. The next meeting was arranged for the last Monday in this month.
