The above picture gives a general idea of the position of the vessel. The photo was taken at about half tide, and there was then some eighteen feet of water over the bow. Alongside the ship a punt is moored, on which two men are working the pump that supplies air to the diver. The latter is below, operating from the boat lying on the port side of the Wairau.
