THE STRANDED WAIRAU.
Diver Smith has practically succeeded in blocking the hoie in the stranded Wairau. The pumping plant arrived this morning, and it is expected that the Wairau will be afloat by Sunday. The pump is of the centrifugal type, with a 4-in pulsometer, and the power is obtained from the Speedwell engine on deck, pumping taking effect in the forepart of the ship. When she is refloated the Wairau will be brought to Foxton where her cargo of coal will he discharged. No information is yet available as to her possible further movements.
